Hot 97 Funkmaster Flex & Nicki Minaj Summer Jam Phone Call [Audio]

Fans went in uproar when they heard their favorite female emcee Nicki Minaj got pulled out from performing at Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert this past Sunday. Here's what happened, Nicki Minaj was the only female emcee to headline this years Summer Jam concert event along with some of her label mates of YMCMB (Young Money) just slight hours before the group were about to take stage, Hot 97's notable radio personality Peter Rosenberg made an offensive comment about Nicki Minaj and her music which got Lil Wayne fired up stating that he was pulling his group Young Money (including Nicki Minaj) from the show. The comment that was made towards Nicki Minaj was telling the Summer Jam crowd New York is all about real hip-hop music and not her pop stuff such as "Starships" and went on to tell the crowd he wasn't talking to them and then continued to skip the song for airplay saying not so good things.

After the whole Summer Jam hoopla, there had been speculation Lauryn Hill was invited in order to take Nicki's spot [which she writes in a open letter, that wasn't true]. Fans were upset and others chimed their opinions and views all over Twitter Sunday night and Monday. Of course there were shots thrown Nicki's way and she threw shots back out on Twitter. Nicki recalls feeling disrespected as a woman and a guest who is asked to headline the annual summer concert. All in all, Nicki Minaj wanted to set the record straight on what happened and why she never performed, stating Lil Wayne who is her boss called the shots and she wasn't going to go against his word. Nicki Minaj called in to Hot 97 and got in a heated phone conversation with radio dj and personality Funkmaster Flex. The phone call got so heated, both couldn't contain their character being and often shouted above one another to get their point across.

Drake & TheWeeknd - OVOXO

When I say I'm out of the loop I really mean it. A friend of mine by the name of DJ Nakeem check him out by Clicking Here, told me about underground RnB singer TheWeeknd's new collabo compilation mixtape with Young Money artist Drake entitled OVOXO. I got familiar with TheWeeknd over this past summer. It was back in July on my way to the city with some friends when one of my friends decided to play some songs off of TheWeeknd's first mixtape House of Balloons. Ever since then I've become a fan of his and couldn't stop playing his mixtape for the longest. My friend from Cali Chantel, informed me that she also has gotten familiar with TheWeeknd and she was already jamming his second mixtape Thursday.

This guy is really dope! His music and the lyrics are so captivating, the songs really make you think. Both mixtapes House of Balloons and Thursday are as mellow as mellow can get. You'd fall in love. Fun fact to know is that TheWeeknd is a native from Toronto, Canada like Drake. These Canadian guys have some real music skills if you ask me. Well I don't want to keep you reading, I want you to get into the music, I'm telling you I rarely like underground music, but this artist is someone who is worth listening to. Check out OVOXO featuring Drake & TheWeeknd presented to you by The Cartel and The Syndicate. If you haven't done already make sure you download House of Balloons and Thursday, I highly recommend you do.

PINK FRIDAY- Nicki Minaj

If you haven't known...today is #PINKFRIDAY HOE! Today marks the biggest day of female rapper Nicki Minaj's life. Her debut album "PINK FRIDAY" is out in stores now. I must admit, I was never a big fan of Nicki Minaj when the bees were buzzing about her hardcore rapping/freestyle.

I never knew who Nicki Minaj was, where she came from and who she was signed with. Nicki Minaj is from Queens, New York, born Onika Maraj grew up in the tough streets, with her mother and father (whom on her mixtapes & album talks about their troubles) and went to one of New York City's greatest performing arts school "LaGuardia Performing Arts School".  I read up on Nicki Minaj and how she would freestyle rap with some of her friends on corners and where ever people would listen. Nicki Minaj then ended up on a mixtape dvd and it somehow got in the hands of fame rapper Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne then called for Nicki Minaj and the next thing you know she was signed to his major record label "Young Money Records".The journey Nicki Minaj took to get to this day of releasing a debut album to the world wasn't a easy one. When she started working on her debut album about a year ago, songs were leaked then forcing Nicki to revamp to the studio and create tons of great material.

Nicki Minaj likes to call herself the "Harakjuku Barbie" and calls her fans Barbz & Ken. The reason I started to like Nicki Minaj was because of all the tracks she was on with some of my biggest and favorite music artist of all time. Nicki Minaj is known now for her crazy antics and changing of accents she does at any point of time. It's cute sometimes, but other times i'm like okay Nicki lol!  Anywho, I'm proud to be a Nicki Minaj. I guess I wasn't so into Nicki Minaj because I felt she was getting too cocky in the game and trying to overthrown some of my female rappers. What I learned is the entertainment business builds you up to be cocky and respected. Nicki was only staying true to herself and releasing good music and blessing people on their tracks.  I respect Nicki Minaj a lot and I'm proud that she can now share her incredible music with the world. Congrats Nicki Minaj! #PINKFRIDAY HOE! For My Album Review Read After The Jump...The album from me gets 5 Full Stars! The Album is off the hook. The beats and lyrics to each song is different and dope. I am in love with this album for a long time. Here's the tracklist and make sure you download or buy #PINKFRIDAY anywhere you can.
