Are You A Lyric Or Beat Listener?
When it comes to music...put it straight forward we all love it. We have our favorite artists, genre, albums and songs. But, did you ever think about what gravitates you to liking a certain song? Could it be the beat or is it the lyrics?
I remember having a conversation with my BFF about why do we fall in love with music so much. My BFF assumed I'm someone who looks for a good beat in a song and it's my favorite and while she listens to the lyrics of a song and that's when she decides whether or not she'll jam out to it or not.
However, she was right about me to a certain extent. I do love music, but if the beat isn't what I feel I can sit and feel vibes from, then I'm not listening. I'm usually looking for a song that challenges me to sing it as well as high notes in a song. Most of the time I'm looking for mid-tempo songs.
My BFF actually listens to the lyrics of song in which she can either relate to what an artist is singing about or she feels the song has a powerful message which is enjoyable to sing. My BFF is actually a pretty hard person to please when it comes to music; not only does she think outside the box but she analyzes it completely to the beat of a song; mind you she has no producing skills whatsoever; but I always value her opinions and views.
It's okay to be either a beat lover or simply a person obsessed with lyrics. That's what makes us unique individuals who start to have an eclectic music library. I would like to know especially now-a-days since the music industry is failing so badly; how do you know when you'll love a song; is it the beat or the lyrics?!

Brandy Feat. Chris Brown "Put It Down" Lyrics
Ever since Brandy has released her new single "Put It Down" feat. Chris Brown for her upcoming album 2/11 now scheduled for a fall release came out, I've been jamming to it non-stop. Being a vivid big BRANDY fan, I'm so happy she is releasing more music and hitting the music industry hard. "Put It Down" is such a club party song and the way Brandy sings on the track just made me fall deep in love with it. Brandy is one of the greatest singers out here in the world and there's no one who can match her voice, she is the definition an artist.
Anywho, I was determined to learn the whole song by the weekend was over so I decided to search online for the lyrics and clearly I came across some that were absolutely wrong smh. I then went on YouTube to see if I can find a video that would have the correct lyrics and thankfully Brandy's VEVO page had a video which complimented the song with CORRECT lyrics. The video affects went awesome with the beat and everything too. I was smiling with joy and I still am!

Lyrics Of The Day - Demi Lovato "Skyscraper"
Have you ever taken the time out to actually read the lyrics to your favorite song? Not with the music, just reading the lyrics and understanding what is being sung alone. I think by doing so, you will gain more respect for the song and feel a connection with the artist more than ever. Some may already do so while some have that gift to comprehend while listening to the song. I, on the other hand, I love reading the lyrics and line by line interpret what is being said.
My favorite song right now is Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper" off of her new album Unbroken. The song is doing so great that it just went GOLD. "Skyscraper" is certified GOLD!!! If you kept up with the downfall of Demi Lovato, then you'll understand why the song is having the success it deserves. "Skyscraper" is a raw emotional song talking about people taking everything away from you BUT your self-confidence in the end standing tall; not being able to break. The lyrics are so powerful. Written by Kerli Koiv, Lindy Robbins and Toby Gad. Read the lyrics and interpret on your own what the song means to you.

Throwback Friday - Alanis Morissette "Hand In My Pocket"
I can remember growing up in the 90s listening to mainstream pop/country/r&b/soul/rap music. I remember when there were TV shows that dedicated their hour and a half to those artists with brilliant chart topping songs and phenomenal creative music videos. I remember the channel stations that just played music videos all day and the one you wanted to see you'd have to call in and give the video number code provided on the screen below the music video that was playing. I remember this one artist who was different from the rest. Her voice was so unique and corky that sounded full of southern soul. This young lady's name was Alanis Morissette, the song "Hand In My Pocket".
I was so young just listening to her sing, not knowing what she was saying in her lyrics, but I can tell the song was an uplifting song. The song was so not for me, but I continued to listen and jam every time the video came on. Then I started to catch on to the chorus and really comprehending the lyrics. The song had a powerful message. I understand it till this day completely without a doubt. I feel like it's a song for everyone to listen to and in those first 30 seconds you will fee uplifted. Alanis Morissette is an amazing singer and songwriter. She was just incredible. This is why i'm making today's Throwback Friday, Alanis Morissette's "Hand In My Pocket" and I will include the lyrics too.

Taking A Love Song To Another Level
Not even 24 hours ago, Beyonce performed her new debut single 1+1 for millions to hear on last nights, American Idol season 10 finale. The song which is a spectacular love ballad where she sings about the POWER of what LOVE can do to someone. Of course we all know she's lovingly talking about her other half/husband rapper Jay-Z. This song has taking love songs to a whole other level. I believe the song is a mix between Dangerously In love and Satellites. 1+1 may not have as much words as both songs, but the short verse metaphors Beyonce uses to describe how she's feeling is incredibly indescribable. You can listen to the song below and after the jump check out the lyrics. The song of course is available to purchase on iTunes as well as pre-ordering her forthcoming album "4".
