Throwback Friday - Tamar Braxton "If You Don't Wanna Love Me"

This is for all the new and old #Tamartians out there!!!

With all the new promo going around for Tamar Braxton, I thought it be great to take a stroll down memory lane and pull up one of my favorite Tamar Braxton songs when she first went solo back in 2000. Her ballad "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" is and will always be one of my top favorite songs.

I'm not too fond of the video merely because the minks and all white outfit she had wore in the video was an atrocity (Sorry Tamar LOVE YOU). However, this solo era turned out to be a flop, but Tamar is back and better than before. I mean it wouldn't be a throwback if I didn't bring back this video right? Tamar was a baby then, she knows better now lol.

Throwback Friday: Joe Budden "Pump It Up"

Joe Budden "Pump It Up" Video Still
JERSEY STAND UP!!!

With the new season of Love & Hip-Hop New York just premeiring this past Monday and rapper Joe Budden being the most talked about cast member on the show, I thought it would be best to go way back in the vault to the year 2003 and remind ourselves what made us interested in Joe Budden in the first place.

People almost forgot about the Joe Budden single that put him on the forefront of the rap game, well put him on top of the rap game when he came out with "Pump It Up", an anthem that will forever be played at dance battles, rap battles, house parties, and anywhere you can let loose and get wild. That's what "Pump It Up" did for me back in the day and it's crazy because at the age of 10, I was rapping Joe's first single from beginning to end (smh, I had no idea what I was rapping, I just knew I was a pumped 10 yr old).

Compared to now Joe Budden looks like totally different person, back in 2003 he looked like a fresh young guy trying to come up in the rap game. Flashback now the man on Love & Hip-Hop looks like he had a rough life and that's because he did fooling around with drugs (you'll hear that story on the next episode of Love & Hip-Hop). I've always been a fan of Joe Budden but a year or two after "Pump It Up", he kind of just disappeared out of nowhere. But now he's back and apart of a rap group called Slaughter House and an official cast member on everyones favorite ratchery show Love & Hip-Hop New York

Anywho, here's today's Throwback Friday and it's Joe Budden with "Pump It Up".

Throwback Friday - Bon Jovi "Livin' On A Prayer"

After coming across this song in a Jordin Sparks American Idol performance, I couldn't stop singing it to myself. Bon Jovi is a legendary group who propels in rock and roll; there should not be one song you don't know from Bon Jovi. Though, I just learned Bon Jovi sung this song, that doesn't mean I've never heard it. "Livin' On A Prayer" is played EVERYWHERE, most famously being a karaoke song or just played during commercials or at rock  concerts by other artists.

I just wanted to share Bon Jovi's video "Livin' On A Prayer" only to introduce to one of the greatest rock icons in the world and also add a different genre to Throwback Friday. I love this song, it's actually an inspirational song and who doesn't love a good inspirational song you can relate too. This will be my new song to sing at karaoke bars or even better weddings. BTW, this is my first time seeing the video with you guys.

Hope You All Enjoy & Have A Safe Weekend!

Throwback Friday - Danity Kane "Show Stopper"

In honor of the previous post about Shannon Bex's country cover of "Damaged" and the whole Danity Kane hoopla, I decided for today's Throwback Friday I take you back to 2006, where the lucky five girls were picked to be in the multi-platinum recording group Danity Kane with their first single "Show Stopper".

If Danity Kane would have stayed together and worked out their differences, i'm pretty sure they wol have release two more albums before disbanding. Dawn Richard, D. Woods, Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres and Aubrey O'Day there will NEVER be another reality tv girl group to hit amazing boundaries as you all did, magnificant music and chemistry, I miss you much! Here's today's Throwback Friday Danity Kane with "Show Stopper".

Throwback Friday - Nivea "Don't Mess With My Man"

Where is Nivea?! Remember she was on the reign in 2003 and previous years when she was heard on the tracks of some of the hottest rappers that were out such as Lil' Wayne and Mystikal? I recently dug into a box of old things and I came across her debut album. One of my favorites off of the album was her hit single "Don't Mess With My Man" which featured Brian from the RnB group Jagged Edge. Nivea needs to come back into the music industry and bring us some hits. Here's today's Throwback Friday video "Don't Mess With My Man" by Nivea. Check out the fashion and hair back then, how ever did we think that was cool? Enjoy!

Throwback Friday - Real McCoy "Another Night"

I remember growing up in the 90s you just couldn't turn the radio without listening to a string of the hottest club songs that were out at the time. Most of the club/dance songs were in movies and then some could be heard being played at block parties or cookouts. Of course, I was too young at the time to go clubbing, my ears immediately fell in with the fast uptempo beat and soulful voices artists penned on the song. The 90s club music made you feel free and stress free.

One of my favorite songs would have to be the Real McCoy with "Another Night". I don't recall where was the first time I heard the song, but I know this beat that I would be unforgettable. I had no idea the group filmed a video for the song. I couldn't be more excited than ever. Take a look at the video and observe how music videos differ from today.

Throwback Friday - Donna Summer "She Works Hard For The Money"

Today's Throwback Friday is in memory of the Queen of Disco Donna Summer, who passed away last week at the fabulous age of 63 due to lung cancer. As our legends soar high above the clouds to Heaven we are fortunate enough to be left with an amazing legacy they've created. One of my favorite songs from Donna Summer is one of her biggest hits "She Works Hard For The Money". My condolences goes out to her family and fans. Donna Summer will never be forgotten, she will always have ties with the term DISCO

Throwback Friday - B2K "Why I Love You"

Remember when B2K took over the music world? Well, one of my favorite songs from the group is their slow ballad "Why I Love You". I remember all the young girls would go crazy over B2K and shockingly they attracted older women too. I'm kind of mad they disbanded, but at least they left us with great dance tracks and soothing slow ballads.

Omarion, J Boog, Lil' Fizz and Raz B formed the group B2K (Boys Of The Millennium) and there will never be an amazing RnB group just like them. I'm leaving you with today's Throwback Friday which is one of my favorite songs from B2K which is "Why I Love You". Enjoy and Have A Blessed, Fun And Safe Weekend!

Holiday Friday - Mariah Carey Feat. John Legend "When Christmas Comes"

Today we're changing it up from Throwback Friday to Holiday Friday. Two days before Christmas and we're going to watch a new holiday festive music video from our RnB/Pop icon Mariah Carey. The new video "When Christmas Comes" features John Legend, which the original track without the songster himself is on MiMi's second platinum selling Christmas album entitled Merry Christmas II You. I love both of Mariah's Christmas albums and right now this holiday I can't stop listening to it. "When Christmas Comes" feat. John Legend is a beautiful song and the video features a lot of special appearances from many of Mariah's loved ones. Check out the video and make sure you download the single only available on iTunes! Happy Holidays!

Throwback Friday - Christina Milian "Dip It Low"

Let's go back to the year 2003 where a lot of females in the music industry were killing it in their music videos.  One video I don't think a man or female will ever forget is RnB/Pop singer and actress Christina Milian's sexy, seductive, steamy video for her song "Dip It Low" The song featured rapper Fabolous but the video just featured Christina performing in front of a crowd with black tar/paint. Her body was so right and fine, this is one of my favorite videos and I'm not even a straight male lol.

Besides the video, Christina Milian is an amazing singer and actress. After having baby Violet by super producer The Dream back year to four years ago, I wish she'd continue to make more music. But for now, please with me come enjoy today's Throwback Friday with Christina Milian in "Dip It Low"

Throwback Friday - Destiny's Child "No, No, No"

Let's go back to 1997 when the best selling girl group of all time conquered the world. Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, LeToya Luckett and Beyonce Knowles were Destiny's Child. Their first single entitled "No, No, No" came out that year which set off their career in so many ways. Though people may be familiar with the upbeat version of the song produced by Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, but before the fast paced video the girls actually did a slow version music video. I actually love the slow version than the fast :-). Let's take a look back on how Destiny's Child grabbed our attention. Today's Throwback Friday video is Destiny's Child with "No, No, No".

Throwback Friday - Boyz II Men "I'll Make Love To You"

With all the recent appearances by RnB group Boyz II Men, regarding their newly entitled album Twenty out in stores now, I thought i'd end the week off with one of their throwback songs from the 90s. The slow love ballad "I'll Make Love To You" is one of Boyz II Men's greatest memorable slow jams till this day. Everyone loved the sensual, seductiveness and sexy vibrato's the group produced on this record. Along with the video, it made a remarkable classic video to add to everyone's own music vault. Today, you can hear this song being sung as audition songs, karaoke and at weddings. Boyz II Men is one helluva powerful group that will always be remembered for their significance in RnB music. Today's Throwback Friday video/song is Boyz II Men's "I'll Make Love To You".

Throwback Friday - Coolio Featuring L.V. "Gangster's Paradise"

Back in 1995, when I was 6 years old, I used to be afraid to watch a certain video because of the beat and how the guy was rapping. Yes! Coolio used to scare the living organs out of me. Although, the movie Dangerous Minds, was one of my favorite movies to watch, every time the song "Gangster's Paradise" came on at the end, I immediately froze shaking in my boots. The music video to the song was just so dark and haunting. I feel embarrassed to even tell you all about my fear of this video. I thought it would go along with the upcoming Halloween festivities if I posted a music video that related to something horrifying or scary. Well, now I know Coolio is one cool ass rapper and this song....puhleze I can watch the music video 10x a day! Here is today's Throwback Friday video "Gangster's Paradise" by Coolio, Enjoy!

Throwback Friday - Paula Abdul "Straight Up"

I thought i'd definitely take you way back to an era in the late 80s where dance and music was the epitome of a great video. Paula Abdul who we all loved as a judge on American Idol and now love as a judge/mentor on The X-Factor is today's throwback artist. We all forget that Paula Abdul once was an incredible dancer, choreographer and singer. Paula's moves ignited the stage every performance she did. That soft innocent voice was what we all loved. Now I wasn't born in the early 80s, but hey being born in 89 growing up in the 90s in my home, you had to listen to all the great oldies.

One of my favorite songs from Paula Abdul is "Straight Up" this song is such a good stress relief workout song to jog too. I was reminded of this song by rapper J. Cole, his debut album Cole World, on one of the songs he samples Paula's hit "Straight Up". I mean who doesn't love this uptempo 80s disco trance beat. Without further adu, I present to you today's Throwback Friday - Paula Abdul "Straight Up" enjoy ;-) . Love You Paula!!!

Throwback Friday - Nelly Feat. P. Diddy & Murphy Lee "Shake Ya Tailfeather"

I will never forget the rapper trio that made my summer. Nelly, P. Diddy and Murphy Lee came out with the smash single "Shake Ya Tailfeather" for the BAD BOYS II soundtrack. Can we say three of the juiciest men in the game. The song came out in June 2003 and you couldn't tell me anything. I was shaking junk like no other haha. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a duo or group. I haven't heard this song in a minute and I decided to bring it out of the retirement vault. I introduce to you today's Throwback Friday - Nelly Feat. P. Diddy and Murphy Lee "Shake Ya Tailfeather". Enjoy!

Throwback Friday - The Lion King 2 "We Are One"

I thought in memory of 9/11, the song "We Are One" from The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, is a very beautiful song the way we all came together as one to get through this rough time in all of our lives. Still today although those towers aren't there or will be built back the way they were, they will never be forgotten and with our pride of remembrance come together as one the Twin Towers stand high as tall in our hearts.

Throwback Friday - Avril Lavigne "Complicated"

Who remembers the rock & pop reign of Avril Lavigne? Back in the early 2000's, 16 yr old Avril was high on the music charts with smashing hits such as "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", and "I'm With You" for her platinum selling debut album Let Go. Everyone was rocking out to Avril Lavigne whether you were Black, White, Asian, or Hispanic. The pop rock sound proved to be the best thing Avril Lavigne ever signed up for. For 8 years Avril was on top, her songs appeared on television shows, movies and commercials.

Avril, really struck me when she came out with her sophomore album The Best Damn Thing. Songs off that album were phenomenal which included "Girlfriend", "When You're Gone", "The Best Damn Thing", "Hot" and "Keep Holding On". My favorite song from Avril, would have to be off her debut album Let Go, her first single "Complicated". "Complicated" really summed up what I was really going through at the time relationship wise, I know you all could relate. This is why today's Throwback Friday is Avril Lavgine's "Complicated". Do you remember the video and the tie fashion trend she brought back out? I wonder what Avril is up to now, she needs to come back out with some more kick ass music! Avril's voice is so beautiful. I Love Her! Check out the video for "Complicated" after the jump.
