The Excitement Starts Tonight!!!

Tomorrow is the 55th Grammy Awards which will be a bittersweet moment for the music industry because around the same time last year we lost a very influential and gifted entertainer, Whitney Houston. There are rumors that the Grammy's is scheduled to have another Whitney Tribute performed by amazing artists who will take stage in celebrating the legacy and life of "THE VOICE".

The Grammy's will be held at The Staples Center in Los Angeles LIVE February 10th at 8PM eastern on CBS. The arena will be filled with tons of celebrities, comedians, producers, singers, and heavy big names as they all unite to celebrate the best of the best in music. The performances will be a star studded event of those who will take the stage as well as presenters. Performers who are scheduled to rip the stage are:

  • Travis Barker, Chuck D, LL Cool J, Tom Morello, and DJ Z-Trip
  • Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert
  • The Black Keys
  • Zac Brown, T Bone Burnett (as musical director), Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard, Elton John, Mumford & Sons, and Mavis Staples, who will pay tribute to the late Levon Helm of the Band
  • Stanley Clarke, Chick Corea and Kenny Garrett in tribute to Dave Brubeck
  • Kelly Clarkson
  • Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band with the Black Keys
  • Fun.
  • Elton John with Ed Sheeran, performing together live for the first time
  • Juanes
  • Alicia Keys and Maroon 5
  • The Lumineers
  • Bruno Mars, Rihanna, and Sting
  • Miguel and Wiz Khalifa
  • Mumford & Sons
  • Frank Ocean
  • Rihanna
  • Taylor Swift
  • Justin Timberlake
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Jack White

The lineup seems like no other award show will top it this year in 2013. I'm looking forward to Justin Timberlake and Rihanna's performances. Rihanna has a special surprise for her performance and it looks like she'll be performing alongside the Marley's.
What's even more exciting about this years Grammy's are the nominees, looks like the Grammy's have been listening to the people's opinions and have decided to nominate REAL ARTISTS and their work. Check out some of the artists that are up for a Grammy, maybe more than one.

Remarkable Gospel Singing

I don't know what took me so long to edit this video, but I did say I was going to share it with you all. Here's a video from last semester that my friend Aglaelle and I did randomly, we were bored and decided to sing a little. We both have such beautiful voices but I really admire Aglaelle's even more, I can't wait until we both hit the studio and record a duet.

In this video we decided to sing some Gospel songs ("I Love The Lord" - Whitney Houston & "I Give Myself Away" - William McDowell) and close out with "Silent Night" most famously by Mariah Carey; this video was definitely recorded in December; excuse us for being in the holiday moment. How cute are our harmonies and voices though? We could be a group right? Or would you like to see us do a duet?

The Houstons 'On Our Own' Reality Show & Episode 1

Though in just a few short months, it will be the one year anniversary of legendary entertainer Whitney Houston's death. For now, it hasn't been a year yet and the Houston's (Bobbi Kristina, Gary, Pat, Rayah, Cissy) and Bobbi Kristina's God-Brother/Fiancé Nick Gordon have all teamed up with LifeTime to create a reality show based upon the after life of their beloved Whitney's death.

I'm shocked the reality show was even taken place, due to the Houston's being so vividly private about their lives. I would have thought the Houston family would want to at least live their first year griefs behind closed doors. However, the reality show revolves around Bobbi Kristina and her coping of her mom's death from what we see in the super trailer. Like any other reality show there of course is mild drama, based on Bobbi Kris and her relationship with God-Brother/Fiancé Nick Gordon and her decision to break into the entertainment industry.

Take A Look Here:

Sparkle (2012)

The 1976 musical SPARKLE remake is set to hit theaters this August; this is to be Jordin Sparks first feature role and LEGEND Whitney Houston's last acting debut. Many people get the movie mixed up with DREAMGIRLS but clearly both movies have two extremely different plots.

SPARKLE is a story about three sisters living in the rough neighborhood of Harlem, New York in search for a better life they come together as a singing group which takes a twist of its own; relationships and egos become involved leading to drug and physical abuse. SPARKLE is a movie one has to watch in their lifetime before laying eyes on any musical movie. I can't wait till the movie hits theaters, the casting director couldn't have found any better actors as the cast who are in this movie. I'm so excited; I grew up watching the movie over and over.

Take a look at the trailer below:

To Honor The Great And Legendary Whitney Houston, The Cast Decided To Release The Music Video For The  Movie's Leading Single "Celebrate" Sung In Duet By Jordin Sparks And Whitney Houston To Celebrate The Life And Legacy Of One Of  The Biggest Entertainers Of All Time.

BET Awards 2012 Highlights

I may be late with the BET Awards 2012 Highlights but better late than never.  Let me just start off by saying this was the best BET Awards ever in a long time! I haven't screamed and shouted at an award show since I don't know when. BET didn't upset me Sunday night. Here are my favorite highlights from the show:
First and foremost can we discuss how RICH the front row was? The camera man was giving tv moments to The Throne who include Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce and new to the crew Kim Kardashian. I was ecstatic to see the four of them along with Solange Knowles and her boyfriend video director Alan Ferguson (who won a BET Award with Beyonce for "Party" in the Director of the Year category). I love this pair of power couple and finally blogs and haters can drop the rumors of Beyonce hating Kim Kardashian; the two are very good acquainted friends.
Of course I loved the opening performance by G.O.O.D artists Kanye West, Pusha T and Big Sean along with 2 Chainz as they performed the smash radio hit "MERCY". Kanye West towards the end of the performance did an impromptu freestyle.
It was a BIG night for THE THRONE as they won an award for Best Duo/Group! I enjoyed Jay-Z making fun of Kanye West by interrupting Kanye as he was citing his thank you speech like Kanye did at 2010's MTV VMA's when he interrupted Taylor Swift
Seeing some of the Destiny's Child members in the theater was a BIG highlight. LeToya Luckett and Michelle Williams were each others dates as they hit the red carpet and also sat next to each other. Michelle's dress did it for the occasion, as though LeToya was giving me a wrapped yellow mummy tease.
Breakout star of the Braxton Family Values, Tamar Braxton who co-hosted the Pre-Show looked very fab in her dress. Her makeup and hair was ON POINT! Tamar is definitely stepping into her own lately, WATCH OUT! ... Now Where's That Long Awaited Album?!!
Newly RnB group TTG (Tank, Tyrese and Ginuwine) graced the red-carpet having women throwing their panties towards their tv screens. The three men were Eye Candy throughout the night.
Tamia who will always remain beautiful won fans best dressed on the red carpet. Check out her new single "Beautiful Surprise" on iTunes now!
TV Personality/Host/Actress LaLa Anthony looked phenomenal in her comfortable summer time jumpsuit looking like a Hispanic Princess Jasmine. Go Head LaLa!
Gawwwwwhhhh if only Boris Kodjoe was single and attracted to me! Boris Kodjoe was another spotted Eye Candy throughout the night.
Nicki Minaj who performed "Champion" and "Beez In The Trap" of her sophomore album Pink Friday:Roman Reloaded; finally acted sane on stage along with rapper 2 Chainz. My mother was obsessed with her eyes all night!!! Nicki Minaj your eyes were popping and I loved your performance! Is that all of your cakes though?!
Melanie Fiona reminded us how GOOD RnB music is as she beautifully belted out her hit single "Wrong Side Of A Love Song". The song is off her highly anticipated amazing sophomore album The MF Life out in stores! AMAZING ARTIST! I think Adele and Melanie Fiona should go on tour together!
Keri Washington who looked shockingly drop dead gorgeous to me for the first time stunned my whole body in her ensemble. Her makeup and hair was simply flawless; gosh that small frame gets all the roles!!!
BET Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Frankie Beverly and Maze reminded us why old skool music will NEVER go out of style.
The Whitney Houston Tribute performed by Monica, Brandy, Chaka Khan and Cissy Houston made the whole world shed more than just a few tears.

Christmas Album Of The Day - The Preacher's Wife

One of my favorite holiday movies is The Preacher's Wife and I absolutely love the album. The album mostly features icon Whitney Houston and the Georgia Mass Choir. This album is always played around my house just about every week. Who doesn't love a Christmas album that brings Gospel and Soul together?! Exactly...No One! If you saw the movie and liked LOVED it then I would suggest you purchase the album and have the time of your life. Listening to Whitney's voice is so relaxing and I mean this album couldn't just start off the holiday season right. My favorite songs are "I Believe In You & Me", "Step By Step", "My Heart Is Calling", "Who Would Imagine A King" and "Joy To The World". Do you have the album? What are your favorites?

Patti LaHelle Presents: Got 2B Real

This whole summer I have been obsessing over creative and funny YouTube shows. One show I came across is a Diva Variety Show entitled Got 2B Real. This show features all of your favorite divas in one reality show. The divas you may ask who; well they are Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Chaka Khan, Fantasia, Diana Ross and last but not least MOTHER Beyonce. There are three episodes so far all which are recently uploaded. In this variety show, you will see everything from jealousy, bickering, cattiness, double teaming, reactions to certain entertainment events, drama and all. This show is so funny.

However, what makes these videos so creative is that the creator @PattiLahelle uses past and recent interviews of each diva and does the voice overs for each segment. It's very brilliant and a thought out process; difficult if you ask me. Remember these are just PARODY videos, in no way shape or form to hurt the real artists in the industry, just something to poke fun at. I wish the show was actually on TV because I would be tuned into it every week. I'll post episode 1 below and if you're interested for more the other two episodes will be posted after the jump along with contact information. Enjoy!

Bobbi Christina - Someone Like You (Cover)

Over the weekend the blogosphere went on a musical frenzy when RnB Legendary Songstress Whitney Houston and Bad Boy Heart-Throb Bobby Brown's daughter Bobbi Christina Brown did an impromptu cover of Adele's latest classic "Someone Like You" on YouTube. Beautiful teen Bobbi Christina has such a beautiful voice and it is said she wants to follow in her mother's footsteps of becoming a singer. I love Bobbi's voice and cover. I hope she does go on to become a great singer. Her career will be phenomenal! Take a look at the video:

Throwback Friday- Kenny G "We've Saved The Best For Last"

If you don't know about this musician then you must not know music at all. Kenny G is one of the most talented musicians of all time. He's known for his melodic tunes played on his flute. Kenny G was at the top in the late 80s till the mid late 90s. This guy will always be huge in the music industry but I haven't heard anything from him in years. He does all types of music from soft rock, pop, r&b, soul to even jazz. This guy does it all. I remember first hearing Kenny G's music in the movie "The Bodyguard" that starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. His soothing sounds on the flute can relax the meanest person on this earth. It's always a pleasure listening to the sounds of Kenny G. This is why I decided to make Kenny G's "We've Saved The Best For Last" as today's Throwback Friday. You might hear and see a big familiar famous face in the video and on the song. If you can guess who it is then your music knowledge is incredible. Enjoy your weekend and keep up on rocking!

GRAMMY 09

Wow, all i have to say is Grammy 09, was brilliant. It brought out the best in the Industry from , Whitney Houston,Al Green, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Duffy, U2, Sugarland, Carrie Underwood,Jennifer Hudson, Keyshia Cole, M.I.A. and many more. My best outstanding moment was when Jennifer Hudson Won The Best R&B Album of the Year. Out of everything she's been through the past 4months, she still had the courage, to go up on stage in front of thousands of people, accept her award, also she performed, so I think thats' a stong woman.
Them "Swagga Boyz" killed the show, also giving a big ups to 9month Pregnant M.I.A, who was due at any time. Lil Wayne lookd so good last night, also Kanye, T.I ,and Jay Z. It was a very proud and outstanding moment when Lil Wayne, won the best Rap Album of the Year. If you didnt watch it or TiVo it, then you missed the best show on Sunday Television haha. I enjoyed all the performances, Katy Perry tickled my fancy..haha, she performed her Hit single "I Kissed A Girl", it was amazing, to have a stage full of fruity fruits. I enjoyed Kanye West, and Estelle performing "American Boy" I love that song.

Whitney Houston's BACK!!!!!

So I am a huge fan of Whitney Houston, her music is phenominal. I always knew once she left Bobby Brown, she was going to come thrill us(the fans, public, family, media, and friends) with her high loving soothing vocals of all time. Whitney is one of the best soulful singers to date alive!!! Here she is singing at Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy Party. Enjoy :-) Tell me what do you think of This Performance?
