Solange 'TRUE' EP + Performances

'TRUE' EP Artwork Photo Courtesy of SolangeMusic.
Currently I'm obsessed with Solange Knowles latest piece of work which is her EP TRUE which she released November of 2012. The EP's leading single "Losing You" had a music video which I blogged highly about, if you'd like to read the feature of "Losing You" Click Here. TRUE, is a seven song EP surround love and its ups and downs and was written and produced by Solange herself and collaborator Dev Hynes. This would be Solange's 3rd musical project and hopefully releasing a 3rd album in the coming year.

The sound for TRUE would be described as late 80s early 90s. I love how Solange always finds a way to reinvent herself instead of sticking to the same material. Solange's last album Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams was inspired by the 60s sounds and image; clearly TRUE was birthed by Solange's latest infatuation with melodic soothing vibes of the 80s and 90s. This is a true breather to take if you want to get away from the music that's currently rotating on radio air waves surrounding auto-tune and electro-pop. You'd be one helluva fool to say Solange isn't a brilliant songwriter, every song on TRUE was written based on events in Solange's life.

My favorite cuts on the EP are "Losing You", "Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work", "Lovers In The Parking Lot" and "Don't Let Me Down"; basically that's most of the EP. Solange is her own artist and i've always loved and admired her work, because Solange totally takes total control on the image and sound of her work as well as being hands on in everything, she's not just a signed artist doing what a label tells her to do.

In promotion of TRUE, Solange is now on tour performing the EP in small venues for big crowds. A recent stop in New York City this past December (2012) seemed to be a fan favorite because video footage of some of the performances circled the internet like crazy. I'd love to share them with you, so you too can see how ICONIC Solange has become in style and performing.

Relationships: Have You Ever Been Used? (Oh I Have)

DISCLAIMER: There is more to this story, i'm giving you an abridged version.

This past November, I met someone whom I thought had potential in being my significant other somewhere in the future. We met off of a dating website (which I refuse to promote, unless i'm getting paid) and our first encounter was about a week or two after conversing on the site. Immediately, once we met our personalities instantly became attracted to one another. From then on, I thought about living in the moment rather than rushing a relationship so soon; come to find out the other person was just about seeing how much he could get out of me.

I must admit, I do wear my heart on my sleeve (I'm an Aquarius its in our nature to be the utmost caring person we can be) and it sometimes gets me into sticky situations where I get played. With the person I was now getting to know "TALKING", we discussed what each of us wanted for Christmas as gift exchanged from one another. I mentioned something less than thirty bucks and my friend mentioned something over two hundred dollars.

Assigned Sex - Ep. 1: Ring The Alarm [Video]

A friend of mine by the name of Shaun Dawson (cinematographer) came up with a brilliant idea to film the lives of some transgender people living in the New York City area. As a reality web~series 'Assigned Sex' focusing around the lives of five transgender male to female and female to male individuals as they cope with living in their new bodies and how others treat them on the job, in the community, with their family and complications they face health wise.

Writer/Director Shaun Dawson

Chose to take on this project because of following facts listed in the video such as:

The LGBT community are the individuals who have it hard living in a world where hatred is looked upon them. The LGBT community are regular human beings just like everyone else whom are heterosexual; they shed tears, bleed, show emotions, have fears and etc. like we all are meant to do. Most people in the world have a hard time accepting the LGBT community because of religious purposes or how they were raised to look upon someone who is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender.

Assigned Sex cast members include Kyrie, Angel, LaLa, Jay'Lin and L whom of which you will get to know their personal stories, hear their fears, successes and why they chose to become transgender. All cast members in this web~series are the most beautiful braved group of individuals i've ever seen. Just by stepping forth and telling their compelling heart felt stories. I applaud them with great admiration and that their story will inspire other transgender individuals to come out and spread awareness that we are all the same no matter what!

Long SANDY Hiatus...

As we all know a devastating natural disaster occurred the past week, Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy's strength managed to knock the east coast completely cold for a good week and still the east coast is trying to recover immediately.

Most known states that were affected were New York City and New Jersey. I happen to live in New Jersey but not near the shore or Atlantic City where damage was greatly done. New York City gained an immense amount of flooding and power outages. Some parts of New Jersey suffered power outages, homes, cars, jobs and sadly some or more family members.

I have a lot to be thankful for, for I have not lost a family member nor my home. I was left without power for about three days; power went out at 8:40PM Sunday 10/28 and didn't get power back until Wednesday afternoon 10/31. The cold didn't bother me as much because I've dealt with much worse cold weather; basically having to move furniture into storage during a bad snow storm.

In aftermath along with a power outage for three days, Hurricane Sandy managed to knock down my land line cutting off my internet connection. I was completely depressed, I really value my connection with social media and I just didn't have that luxury for a week and weekend. However, I'm taking advantage of my school's WIFI!!!

Blogging will be scarce until I get internet service back at home. I will try my hardest to keep you updated on hot topics and all things I enjoy and love. My heart goes out to those who lost a lot during Hurricane Sandy storm and especially for those who lost lives.

Power 105.1 Breakfast Club: Tamar Braxton & Vince Herbert [Interview]

Yesterday, Tamar Braxton-Herbert and record executive extraordinaire Vincent B. Herbert stopped by New York City's Power 105's The Breakfast Club for a little chat on their new WEtv reality show Tamar and Vince, cleared up rumors, marriage, family, Lady Gaga, careers and tossed rumors.

Watching the interview I couldn't help but love Tamar and Vince more than I already do because of how real and humble they keep each other. In the video I seen Charlamagne was a bit less rudely vocal in this interivew than he is in other interviews with celebrities. I take it if he TRIED IT, Tamar and Vince would have gotten him together!!!

Do You Think Tamar Should Have Put A Family First?

Spotted Ellie Goulding In New York City 9.14.12

This past Friday as I was on my way back to New Jersey from classes in New York City, I caught myself walking past UK pop singer Ellie Goulding. If you know me, then you would know I LOVE Ellie Goulding as an world renowned artist. I have always joked about running into celebrities in the Big Apple; but always doubt the chances.

Blue Ivy Carter Out & About [Unveiled]

After the first month Beyonce and Jay-Z's first born Blue Ivy's official photos were displayed on Beyonce's blog. Beyonce has done a fine job of keeping Blue Ivy covered up from the paps until now.

Earlier today pics of the mommy and daughter went viral as Beyonce finally unveiled baby Blue Ivy. The two seemed to be out and about in New York City like the usual mommy and daughter outing. The 6 month year old looked so beautiful with a head full of curly hair, Blue Ivy looks a bit like her mogul father Jay-Z and has Bey's nose and eyes. Then after their day in Beyonce quickly covered baby Blue shielding her from the paps.

Renting Or Owning???

When I become financially stable in life, have a salary and can afford a place of my own, I decided that I would want to be a renter rather than owning a home. I wonder if I was crazy or were there people like me who choose to rent over owning a home. Not that owning a home is a scary thing to me, I want to live in New York City or Los Angeles and I feel in those two big cities there are going to be plenty of times where you want to move in a 2-3yr span [this is just my opinion]. There's so much to see and experience in a city that's huge. When owning a home, I feel like you're stuck and have so many responsibilities to keep up with.

When renting, the stress is all upon the landlord all you have to do is pay the rent on time and you're good, of course finding a great and respectful landlord or property you'll live to love. I think by now you all know the responsibilities of owning a home, if not well you have to keep up with maintenance of the home which sometimes you'll be throwing out tons of money, depending on where you live. For some strange odd reason I think renting is much more fun than owning. I'd rather stress less than stress more.

I just gave you an overview on my decision to renting versus owning a home. What are you more leaning towards? Let me know, who knows maybe your comment can change my mind!

EMPIRE GIRLS: JULISSA & ADRIENNE

If you follow former Cheetah Girl and ex-girlfriend of Rob Kardashian, Adrienne Bailon on Twitter then you'd know she and television host Julissa Bermudez have teamed up together as the two Latina's take on New York City in their upcoming reality show Empire Girls: Julissa & Adrienne premiering June 3rd at 9pm on the STYLE Network.

The show will focus on the two along with their closets best friends as they try to get back into the entertainment industry after a few ups and downs they've endured. Adrienne which she feels people have forgotten that she's a singer and not some random reality tv ex-girlfriend takes us along her journey of being a newly signed artist under R&B songster Ne-Yo's Compound Island. Julissa who you probably remember as being BET's 106 and Park host for some years along with Big Tigger, as she takes us on her journey of striving to get her own talk show as well as some fantastic opportunities along the way.

Check out the trailer below:

Getting Back Into The Groove Of Gossip Girl

Finally reconnected with one of my favorite CW shows; Gossip Girl. It took me a while to get back into the mist of the show. After hearing a friend of mine talk about how she's addicted to the show, I thought it was best for me to watch what drama stirred up on the show. Shockingly, a lot has changed since I last watched.

Thankfully, Gossip Girl is one of those shows to where if you stopped watching and picked up later in the new episodes you won't get confused on what's going on. Of course, if you don't know the characters then you will get lost in the sauce. Really, I believe if you loved the movie Cruel Intentions then you would absolutely love Gossip Girl. If you're a New York City Upper East Side type of person then this show is a must for you to watch. Gossip Girl does provide drama, but not any drama where it's champagne throwing, spitting in faces, or pulling hair. I'd like to call Gossip Girl...A Bit Of Drama With Class!

If you have time you can catch up with the current 5th season of Gossip Girl on the CW website or on Hulu. How many of you already watch the show? What do you think of the new characters? How bout' that Georgina Sparks? Let me know your thoughts about the show!

Faceasaurus Rex

Just last night I was introduced by a friend of mine to this amazing dub-step/new house/rap band called Faceasaurus Rex (I can't pronounce the name but they're hot). The band is based out in Philly who are on the rise. Faceasaurus Rex consists of a drummer/producer- KDUB, DJ Dougie mixin it up, and Grand Marquis spittin that fire. The tracks I heard from the group are so dope, they mixed the popular favorite dance tunes and just turned them into a never ending club dancing mix. I love new house music, especially at the clubs. I mean isn't that what we're supposed to hear anyway? If I love their work, so will you! Check them out!

2011 New Years Eve Plans

So in just a few more weeks 2011 will be ending. I have to say this year went by so fast I can't even remember what happened the first 6 months. I guess 2011 took me a along for the ride :-). After Christmas comes New Years Eve. I don't know a person who doesn't celebrate New Years Eve with either close friends or family. I've always celebrated New Years Eve with my family, but this time I would like to experience New Years Eve in New York City. The atmosphere of a big crowd of different nationalities coming together in Times Square to see the ball drop is unforgettable. There would be no other way to spend New Years Eve and bring in 2012. This is something I have on my mind to end the year. I don't know what else will be going on so I guess i'll keep options open.

What are your New Years Eve plans to end the 2011 year? Let Me Know.
